Founded in 2014, the BOMA Georgia Foundation has grown to become the largest foundation of its kind. Below are some of our milestones in advancing real estate education and research.

  • 2014 – BOMA Georgia Foundation founded. The foundation was created to fill the gap between the continuing education needs of real estate professionals and the resources to address those needs and to provide new resources for property professionals to return value to the people and properties they serve.

  • 2015 – Rutledge Beacham Education and Research Fund established. Rutledge was widely recognized as a leader in the CRE industry and a mentor to many. He cared deeply about helping others advance their career. The foundation’s first named fund was established in his memory so that his legacy of helping others would continue for generations to come.

  • 2016 – Expanded research beyond Georgia. The foundation collaborated with organizations outside of Georgia for the fist time, including BOMA Greater Charlotte and BOMA Raleigh-Durham, to produce research studies for the markets they serve.

  • 2017 – Hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference in Atlanta. In alignment with the foundation’s mission to advance real estate education and research, the BOMA Georgia Foundation hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference in 2017.

  • 2017 – Philanthropic Leadership Award created. The foundation’s mission is achieved through the generosity of donors and volunteers. The BOMA Georgia Philanthropic Leadership Award was created to recognize people and organizations who are dedicated to helping others through the foundation.

  • 2019 – Hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference in Savannah. When no other organization volunteered to host the 2019 BOMA Southern Region Conference, the foundation stepped up to host the conference in Savannah.

  • 2020 – 500th scholarship awarded. Awarding scholarships has always been core to how the foundation helps individuals advance their career. In 2020, the foundation awarded its 500th scholarship.

  • 2020 – COVID-19 Pandemic leadership. In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the foundation produced a series of research reports to help property professionals navigate the pandemic and return value to the people and properties they serve. The foundation’s research reports gained national attention, with CRE professionals throughout the country accessing and utilizing the resources.

  • 2021 – Hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference virtually. In 2021, the BOMA Southern Region Conference was cancelled due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the foundation volunteered to host the conference virtually, ensuring CRE professionals had access to high-quality education and networking opportunities during an unprecedented environment.

  • 2024 – CRE and the Bee research and education. In 2024, the foundation received national recognition from Association TRENDS with a TRENDY Award in the eLearning and Live Training category for its CRE and the BEE research and educational program. To combat colony collapse disorder and the overall decline of the honeybee population, the BOMA Georgia Foundation developed a CRE and the Bee live training program to supplement its research report on the same topic, which was designed to educate commercial real estate owners and managers about the role they can play in protecting and rebuilding the population of these important pollinators in our ecosystem.

  • 2024 – Hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference in Atlanta. The foundation again hosted the BOMA Southern Region Conference, achieving record attendance and providing extensive educational opportunities for real estate professionals to return value to the people and properties they serve.

The BOMA Georgia Foundation has also received national recognition for its efforts to advance real estate education and research. These accolades underscore the significant impact the foundation is making in the lives and careers of thousands of individuals.
